Chalmers Johnson: personal injury, employment & civil rights attorney

He began his career in South Carolina in 1995 clerking for a personal injury attorney. He soon focused on civil rights and employment law. Just five years later he opened his own law firm, Chalmers Johnson Law Firm, LLC, with two offices, and several lawyers, serving all counties in South Carolina. They focused on employment law/ civil rights cases and Chalmers soon began to represent clients in state and federal appeals courts. In 2007 he sold his practice in South Carolina and moved to Washington State where he continues his appellate practice and expanded his personal injury litigation practice.

Since joining GSJones Law Group he’s found himself working more and more to help people who work for Kitsap’s largest employer, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and other workers.

Chalmers’ cases in the news.

In the spring of 2016 Chalmers was featured on a KOMO TV news segment on the illegal activities of “trash out” companies. Chalmers negotiated a settlement with Safeguard Properties for Byron Brassfield of Port Townsend.

The December 19, 2019 Kitsap Sun story featured his client Tamie Smith’s lawsuit against the PSNS for sexual harassment and retaliation.

The Kitsap Sun featured four of Chalmers’ clients March 1, 2020. All fought their unfair treatment during pregnancy and nursing as workers for PSNS.

Chalmers is an experienced and zealous litigator who really enjoys being a trial lawyer and helping his clients get justice. He lives in Port Orchard on the water and kayaks three times a week and hikes as often as he can. He also enjoys the firm’s participation in the Reindeer Run each year.
